[SMM analysis] praseodymium and neodymium prices rose slightly during the week, short-term light, medium and heavy rare earth prices or relatively stable

SMM4, 24th:

The prices of most rare earth products held steady this week, and the prices of praseodymium and neodymium oxide and praseodymium and neodymium metal rose slightly during Light rare earth, praseodymium and neodymium oxide prices rose slightly within the week, mainly because the upstream businesses in the market continued to maintain a strong state of low shipping willingness after a brief recovery in early demand, as of Friday praseodymium and neodymium oxide market quotation has been raised to 265000 yuan / ton, the actual transaction price has also risen to 26-263000 yuan / ton, the source of lower prices in the market is difficult to find. Praseodymium and neodymium metal prices also rose, praseodymium neodymium metal quoted 32.8-333000 yuan / ton on Friday. However, although the upstream quotation is relatively strong, but downstream demand remains relatively weak, resulting in praseodymium and neodymium oxide prices significantly up the action can be weak. In terms of medium and heavy rare earths, the prices of dysprosium oxide and terbium oxide were all the same during the week, the market was expected to close and reserve during the week, the upstream quotation remained strong, and the market demand was relatively weak, resulting in a flat stalemate in dysprosium oxide and terbium oxide prices. Dysprosium oxide 178-1.8 million yuan / ton on Friday, the actual transaction price maintained at 1.78 million yuan / ton, terbium oxide 390-3.95 million yuan / ton, the actual transaction price maintained at 3.88 million yuan / ton.

SMM believes that recently, the prices of light, medium and heavy rare earth products have been quoted by upstream merchants, but the market demand limits the further upward price of rare earth products. In the long run, affected by the epidemic situation at home and abroad, it will still take time for the demand of rare earth downstream and terminal enterprises to pick up. In the short term, we need to pay attention to the positive effect of the possible short-term recovery of demand on the price of rare earths. It is expected that the prices of light, medium and heavy rare earth products may continue to maintain a relatively stable trend in the short term.

[SMM Rare Earth Weekly Review: Rare Earth Prices Pulled Back Significantly, Downstream Inquiries and Procurement Decreased] Affected by fluctuations in futures prices, confidence in the Pr-Nd oxide market dropped sharply. Traders proactively sold off cargoes at low prices, causing transaction prices in the Pr-Nd oxide market to fall rapidly. As of today, Pr-Nd oxide prices had already pulled back to 690,000-700,000 yuan/mt.
