Worldsteel: China crude steel production dipped 1.7% YoY in March

China’s crude steel production slipped 1.7% year on year to 79 million mt in March, after an increase of 5% to 74.8 million mt in February, showed data from the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) on Wednesday.

SHANGHAI, Apr 23 (SMM) – China’s crude steel production slipped 1.7% year on year to 79 million mt in March, after an increase of 5% to 74.8 million mt in February, showed data from the World Steel Association (Worldsteel) on Wednesday.


The Data also indicated that global crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the Worldsteel decreased 6% from a year ago to 147.1 million mt in March. 


In the first quarter of 2020, world crude steel production was 443 million mt, down by 1.4% compared to the same period in 2019.
