[SMM Thread] initial tracking of Terminal demand-Construction in the Housing Industry is slower than Infrastructure Construction

Published: Apr 22, 2020 19:01 (GMT+8)

Recently, SMM tracking the market found that some areas, such as Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other markets, as well as the second and third line resources thread price difference slightly expanded compared with the normal period last year. In addition to the rising operating rate of electric arc furnace steel plants, the supply of second and third line resources can be supplemented, the construction pace of small and medium-sized housing construction projects is slower than that of infrastructure and other industries is also one of the important reasons. It is reported that under the policy support of the current infrastructure projects, the construction rhythm has basically returned to normal, and there is even a release of demand for rush work. At the same time, most housing construction enterprises still say that the current personnel is not yet fully in place, and the shortage of funds is more prominent, dragging down the progress of construction, it will take time to return to the normal level. Follow up on this week's SMM terminal requirements report. As far as the later stage is concerned, under the recovery of blast furnace plant production, the steel price may continue to be in a weak adjustment state in the short term, and the price difference between the first line and the second and third line resources will also be gradually recovered with the recovery of housing construction demand.

Peru sees 1 million t/y copper output boost within five to six years
Peru's Energy and Mines Minister Guillermo Shinno said the country expects to add about 1 million tonnes of annual copper production within five to six years through new mining projects. The world's third-largest copper producer anticipates 2026 output of 2.5 to 2.7 million tonnes, roughly unchanged from 2023 as declining ore grades and recurring social conflicts weigh on supply. The newly elected government is seeking to reverse that stagnation by cutting red tape; in the two months since taking office, mining companies have stepped up engagement with the ministry. Shinno said officials have identified 27 permits that could be eliminated from roughly 100 mining-sector requirements, without lowering environmenta
