On April 22, the rising price of stainless steel futures market in the lower reaches of today has dropped somewhat, the spot market quotation has also been reduced, the quotation of high carbon ferrochromium is relatively stable, the ex-factory price of high carbon ferrochromium in Inner Mongolia is 5900-6000 yuan / 50 basis tons, the northwest 58506000 yuan / 50 basis tons, the mainstream quotation of natural blocks in Sichuan is 6000-6200 yuan / 50 basis tons, East China 6100-6200 yuan / 50 basis tons; However, in the second half of April, many manufacturers still reduced production and maintenance, and monthly production is expected to drop by nearly 50 per cent. Coupled with export restrictions in South Africa and Zimbabwe, the national supply of high-carbon ferrochromium may be reduced by nearly 100000 tons in May.

Canada Nickel said on July 31 it received a positive Decision Statement from Canada's Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Nature for its Crawford nickel project in the Timmins district of northeastern Ontario, the first mining approval issued under the amended Impact Assessment Act since 2019. The project was referred to the federal Major Projects Office and selected for Ontario's One Project, One Process framework. CEO Mark Selby said the federal permit took four years and the project moved from its fifth drill hole to this milestone in under seven. The company will now advance detailed engineering, financing and remaining provincial and federal permits ahead of a construction decision targeted for 2027. Crawford would also be North America's only primary chromium source.
