SMM, 21 April:

In March 2020, China imported 333000 tons of nickel and iron (in kind, including NPI and FeNi), an increase of 41.17% over the previous month, an increase of 242.53% over the same period last year, and a cumulative increase of 107.25% over the same period last year.

After being converted into metal tons, the import volume is 53000 tons. According to the product type, FeNi accounts for 30% of them, and 70% of them.

In terms of countries, Indonesia, South Korea and Colombia are the three largest sources of nickel and iron imports.

The epidemic in Indonesia did not affect the production and export of nickel and iron. The output of NPI continued to increase and the output shipped back to China increased steadily. The production progress of enterprises in the second quarter increased only compared with the first quarter, and subsequent imports are expected to continue to increase.
