






SMM4, April 10, 2020: on April 8, 2020, the European Commission issued a notice to make a positive anti-dumping judgment on hot rolled stainless steel coil (Certain Hot RolledStainless Steel Sheets and Coils) originating in China, Taiwan and Indonesia, and decided to impose a temporary anti-dumping duty on the enterprises involved for a period of 6 months from the day after this announcement was issued in the official Gazette. On August 12, 2019, the European Commission issued a notice saying that in response to the application of the European Iron and Steel Association (the European Steel Association) on behalf of the European Union hot rolled stainless steel coil manufacturers on June 28, 2019, the European Commission launched an anti-dumping investigation into hot-rolled stainless steel coils originating in China, Taiwan and Indonesia.
According to SMM data, China's total stainless steel exports in 2019 are about 3.67 million tons, of which hot rolled coils account for 410000 tons, hot rolled coils account for about 110000 tons to the European Union, and coil exports account for about 2.497 million tons, accounting for 68 percent of the total. The hot rolled coil is about 530000 tons, accounting for about 14.6% of the total export, of which the hot rolled coil export to the European Union is about 110000 tons, accounting for about 3%, accounting for about 4.4% of the coil export volume. The EU anti-dumping is expected to have a limited impact on China's stainless steel exports.
