China car sales in March jumped 361% from February: CAAM

Sales of automobiles in China recovered significantly from a month ago in March, rising 361.1% to 1.43 million units, with the car production jumping 399.2% to 1.42 million units, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said on Friday.

SHANGHAI, Apr 10 (SMM) – Sales of automobiles in China recovered significantly from a month ago in March, rising 361.1% to 1.43 million units, with the car production jumping 399.2% to 1.42 million units, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said on Friday. 


On a yearly basis, production and sales of cars in China were 44.5% and 43.3% lower, respectively, with the declines narrowing by 35.3 and 35.8 percentage points from that in February. 


Data from CAAM also revealed that sales of new energy vehicles in China slipped 53.2% year on year to 53,000 units in March.


China produced about 50,000 NEVs in March, 56.9% lower on the year.
