BHP Billiton Chile Escondida Copper Mine confirmed 2 New Crown cases

SMM4, March 10: global mining giant BHP Billiton confirmed Thursday that its Eskondida (Escondida) copper mine in Chile has confirmed two new cases of crown virus infection.

It is reported that one of them is an internal staff member, and the other is a contract worker. At present, all employees who have been exposed to the new crown virus have been quarantined.

In 2019, Escondida copper production totaled 1.1386 million tons.

So far, there have been very few confirmed cases of new crowns in Chilean copper mines.
