[SMM Stainless Steel Flash] India’s leading stainless mill cuts November coil prices; semis QCO waiver extended
India’s leading stainless producer cut 304, 316 and JT hot- and cold-rolled coil prices from 2 November, its first revision this month, citing weak pre-Diwali demand and softer scrap prices. Buyers are leaning towards imports as the price gap widens and the dollar weakens. Separately, the Ministry of Steel on 28 October extended the QCO exemption for 162 semi-finished stainless grades under IS 14650:2023 to 31 March 2027.

[SMM Stainless Steel Flash] Acerinox sees no European stainless recovery before early next year as consumption slumps
Acerinox estimates European apparent consumption of stainless flat products fell 22% in Q3 and 11% in the first nine months. Flat imports dropped 42% over nine months and 50% in Q3, which it attributes to CBAM and the EU’s new steel measures, which cut quotas by 55% and doubled the out-of-quota tariff to 50%. With high inventories and material bought before the measures still being worked through, it does not expect a recovery before early 2027.
