SMM4, March 7: according to the latest news, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said he preferred to extend the blockade until April 30 to further prevent the outbreak of coronavirus. He says he is considering adjusting this year's budget of 4.1 trillion pesos ($80.8 billion) to allocate more money for the virus response, because about 200 billion pesos are not enough to provide cash grants to poor families. He also instructed economic officials to find more money to help the poor during the blockade. According to SMM research, affected by this impact, Suriname mining operations will be closed again, and still in a state of closure.

After it emerged that the local government had allowed mining operations to resume ore shipments at two mines in Surigao del Norte province, Nickel Asia Corp, the largest nickel miner and exporter in the Philippines, said it would resume shipments at two of its mines in Surigao del Norte province, as the local government had allowed mining operations to resume. Dante Bravo, chairman of the Philippine Nickel Association, said this would help ease supply concerns. He also predicts that supply-side interference will be less in the coming weeks and is expected to return to normal in June. In an effort to stop the spread of the epidemic, the company's mining operations in Surigao del Norte province, which houses the largest nickel mine in the Philippines and supplies raw materials to Chinese nickel pig iron producers and smelters, have been suspended since April 1.
