[SMM Analysis] prices of rare Earth products continue to fall during the week and follow up on changes in Market demand

Published: Apr 3, 2020 20:03

SMM4, March 3:

The overall price of rare earth products showed a downward trend this week, mainly affected by the epidemic, rare earth terminal industry orders transmitted to the upper reaches of the reduced demand for rare earth raw materials. During the week, most of the metal plants and downstream enterprises maintained on-demand procurement, the overall market inquiry transaction situation was weak, some upstream merchants actively shipped, upstream quotation gradually moved down. In terms of light rare earths, the prices of praseodymium and neodymium oxide, neodymium oxide and praseodymium oxide have all been lowered within the week. On Friday, the market price of praseodymium and neodymium oxide dropped to around 260000 yuan per ton for the whole year of 2019, and the actual mainstream transaction price was 263000 yuan per ton. Neodymium oxide and praseodymium oxide were affected by the decline in praseodymium oxide prices, neodymium oxide 28.3-286000 yuan / ton, praseodymium oxide 30.5-315000 yuan / ton on Friday. In terms of heavy rare earths, in the early stage, due to dysprosium oxide and terbium oxide prices rose to last year's high point, some upstream businesses actively shipped, upstream quotation showed signs of loosening, this week downstream demand is weak, some upstream businesses continue to lower quotation, big factory quotation is slightly strong, market transaction still has not improved, dysprosium oxide 178-1.81 million yuan / ton, terbium oxide 395-4.03 million yuan / ton on Friday.

SMM believes that due to the influence of the Ching Ming Festival holiday next week, it is expected that the overall market demand may remain relatively weak, the prices of light and heavy rare earth products will be affected by weak demand or hindered, and the prices of light and medium heavy rare earth products may be weak and stable in the short term.
