SHANGHAI, Mar 30 (SMM) – Eighteen provinces in China including Shandong and Anhui have rolled out plans to construct a total of more than 413,000 5G base stations this year, as China speeds up the investment in new infrastructure to bolster consumption amid the impact of coronavirus outbreak.

Experts also advised that the governments should offer supportive policies in the issuance of special-purpose bonds designated for financing infrastructure.

Separately, south China's Guangdong province targets to build 60,000 5G base stations in 2020, with 48,000 to be completed in the first three quarters, according to the Measures on Responding to the Impact of the COVID-19 Epidemic to Promote Information Services and Consumption released by local authorities.

By year-end, 5G network will cover more than 90% of the population in Guangdong, authorities said.
