China crude steel production up 3.1% YoY in January-February: NBS

China produced 154.7 million mt of crude steel in January-February, up 3.1% from a year earlier albeit the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

SHANGHAI, Mar 16 (SMM) – China produced 154.7 million mt of crude steel in January-February, up 3.1% from a year earlier albeit the impact of the coronavirus outbreak, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). 


Production of steel products in China stood at 167.13 million mt in January-February, 3.4% lower on the year. 


In the first two months of the year, domestic output of primary aluminium grew 2.4% year on year to 5.85 million mt, with the production of pig iron rising 3.1% to 132.34 million mt.

Overall market trading activity was sluggish. At month-end, the market maintained a steady posture, watching for the outcome of the new round of aluminum fluoride tender prices.
