SHANGHAI, Jan 21 (SMM) – China’s zinc output notched a new record high in December, as high profits encouraged smelters to remain in high gear.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that China produced 607,000 mt of refined zinc last month, the highest monthly level on record. This was up 2.2% from November and 19.5% from the corresponding month of 2018.
For the full 2019, China’s zinc output grew 9.2% year on year to 6.24 million mt, compared to a 3.2% decline in 2018.
