Primary aluminium inventories rose 20,000 mt on week

Stocks increased 20,000 mt in the week ended January 16 to 630,000 mt

SHANGHAI, Jan 16 (SMM) – Aluminium inventories in China rose this week, lifted by greater arrivals and broadly weakening consumption.

SMM data showed that social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, increased 20,000 mt in the week ended January 16 to 630,000 mt.

The stocks barely changed in the previous week, after registering an increase of 18,000 mt in the week ended January 2 that snapped a months-long inventory downtrend.

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 201,000 mt

Shanghai – 103,000 mt

Nanhai, Guangdong – 132,000 mt

Gongyi, Henan – 53,000 mt

Hangzhou, Zhejiang – 66,000 mt

Tianjin – 57,000 mt

Linyi, Shandong – 6,000 mt

Chongqing –12,000 mt
