SHANGHAI, Jan 13 (SMM) – China’s national standards on recyclable copper, brass, aluminium alloy casting raw materials will come into force from July 1, according to a notice by State Administration for Market Regulation and National Nonferrous Metal Standardisation Technical Committee issued at the end of last year.

These standards are the long-anticipated “reclassification” of scrap to replace the so-called “solid waste”, imports of which are set to be completely banned by the end of 2020. Foreign copper and aluminium scrap that meet these standards will be allowed to enter China without restrictions.

Details on these standards will be published within 20 working days after the release of the notice.
