China's alumina imports rose 168% YoY in January-November

Net imports of alumina amounted to 1.01 million mt in the first eleven months of the year

SHANGHAI, Dec 26 (SMM) – China’s imports of alumina, a raw material used to produce aluminium metal, amounted to 1.24 million mt in the first eleven months of the year, up 167.51% from the same period a year earlier, according to the latest data from China Customs.

Alumina imports in November stood at 206,800 mt, after the intake climbed 60% on the month and 397.9% on the year to 240,000 mt in October. 

Customs data also showed that China exported 10,700 mt of alumina last month, making the domestic net imports of alumina at 196,100 mt in November. 

China’s net imports of alumina amounted to 1.01 million mt in the first eleven months of the year.
