Chalco Guizhou commissioned 20,000 mt/year aluminium bar capacity on December 6

The production line now can produce 2,000 mt of A4, A6 and A8 aluminium round bar and rod a month

SHANGHAI, Dec 25 (SMM) – The Guizhou branch of the Chinese aluminium giant, the Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco), put an aluminium alloy bar production line, with designed capacity of 20,000 mt on an annualised basis into operation on December 6.

The production line now can produce 2,000 mt of A4, A6 and A8 aluminium round bar and rod a month, which mainly flow to markets in the east, south and southwest of China.

This aluminium processing base relies on primary aluminium supply from Guizhou Huaren New Materials, which is also owned by Chalco, and is designed to have aluminium alloy capacity of 348,000 mt/year.

It commissioned 50,000 mt of billet capacity in July and 15,000 mt of small slab capacity in November.

About 150,000 mt of large slab capacity and 70,000 mt of cast aluminium alloy capacity are expected to come on stream at the end of February 2020.

Construction of a high precision aluminium production line, with 3,000 mt/year of capacity, is likely to end by the end of this year.

As the weekend approached, downstream processing enterprises saw stockpiling demand fall short of expectations, while purchasing traders remained cautious and made no large-scale procurement or stockpiling moves. Suppliers showed limited willingness to hold prices firm, and final transaction prices were around parity with the central China price to a discount of 20 yuan against the central China price. Central China market shipment sentiment index was 2.65 today, up 0.01 MoM; the purchasing sentiment index was 2.38, down 0.03 MoM.

SMM, March 27: In early trading, SHFE aluminum 2604 fluctuated downward, while its center was higher than the previous day. Supported by higher futures prices, shipment sentiment increased from yesterday, though some sellers still held back from selling, with a clear willingness to hold prices firm.
