SHANGHAI, Dec 13 (SMM) – Inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port continued to fall this week, decreasing 5,000 mt from a week ago to 98,000 mt as of December 13, 12.5% lower than a year ago, showed SMM data.
Stocks in Kunming have been on the decline since producers in Yunnan curtailed production in dry season, while port warehouses saw greater deliveries as exporters rushed to deliver their orders at year-end.
Arrivals at some warehouses improved slightly, leading to higher stocks at Huangpu port. This, however, is unlikely to derail overall stocks from a downtrend, as the additional arrivals will be delivered soon.
