SMM12, 11 Jun: Japanese Nobel Prize winner Akira Yoshino said in a recent speech in Stockholm that lithium-ion batteries are crucial to achieving sustainable society.

He also showed previous videos to show that his experiments did not cause fires or bao zha. It is emphasized that safety is an indispensable part of the commercialization of lithium-ion batteries.

Yoshiki Yoshino, 71, won the Nobel Prize in chemistry earlier this year for his contribution to lithium-ion batteries. In 1983, Yoshino produced the world's first prototype of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

M Stanley Whittingham of John B Goodenough, Binghamton University at the University of Texas at Austin and Akira Yoshino of Meijo University won the 2019 Nobel Prize in chemistry announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.

Akira Yoshino was born in 1948. In 1972, he received a master's degree from the Graduate School of Kyoto University. He entered Xuhua Company in 1972, began to study a new type of secondary battery in 1981, and invented lithium ion secondary battery in 1985. In 1992, it participated in the establishment of a joint venture with Toshiba, Acorn TBs, which promoted the commercialization of lithium-ion secondary batteries. Now he is an honorary researcher of Xuhua Cheng Company. He was awarded the Japanese Purple Shou Award in 2004, Russia's Global Energy Award (Global Energy Prize), in 2013, the Charles Stark Draper Prize (National Academy Charles Stark Draper Prize), of the National Academy of Engineering in 2018, the Japan International Award (JAPAN PRIZE), 2019, the European inventor Award (European Inventor Award, non-European Department in 2019) and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in October of the same year.
