SHANGHAI, Dec 11 (SMM) – China's battery manufacturers produced 12.28 billion lithium-ion batteries in the first 10 months of the year, up 1.8% from the same period last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported on December 11.
The year-over-year increase slowed from a rise of 7.7% in the first nine months of the year.
Production of lithium-ion batteries in October was 14.1% higher on the year, standing at 1.45 billion units.
Separately, in January-October, domestic production of lead-acid batteries stood at 161.67 million kVAh, 3.3% higher from a year earlier, compared to a 5.2% rise in January-September.
Output of primary cells and batteries (excluding button cells), meanwhile, grew at a faster pace of 2.8% on the year, to 32.9 billion units in January-October.
