SHANGHAI, Nov 29 (SMM) – Operating rates across lead-acid battery producers in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hebei provinces remained unchanged from the prior week and averaged 57.75% in the week ending November 29, showed SMM survey.
Despite continued tepid demand for electric-bicycle and automobile batteries, battery producers managed to control inventories at reasonable levels with some mills increasing sales promotion.
SMM learned that battery distributors and retailers remained cautious about purchasing amid lower lead prices.
Medium-sized and small battery producers had the inclination to restock at year-end, but lesser new orders prompted them to extend discounts for finished products.
As of November 29, wholesale prices of top brand 48v20Ah batteries for e-bikes stood at 440-470 yuan/set, with prices of lower-quality brands at 410-440 yuan/set.
