Hainan to set up NEV battery recycling system

The island province aims to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles and achieve complete electrification of mobility by 2030

SHANGHAI, Nov 26 (SMM) – South China’s Hainan province plans to establish a recycling system for retired new energy vehicle batteries, according to a statement by the province’s ministry of industry and informatization released last Friday.

A massive network for collecting NEV batteries is expected to be established to ensure that retired batteries safely and effectively flow to compliant recyclers.

Hainan will also launch demonstration projects for the second-use of spent NEV batteries, developing a mature industrial chain.
