SHANGHAI, Nov 25 (SMM) – China's export of steel sheet and plate shrank 12.8% from a year ago to stand at 2.87 million mt in October, with the drop faster than a 4.8% year-over-year decline in September, showed the latest data from China Customs.
Exports in the first ten months were 1.8% lower year on year, standing at 33.1 million mt, compared to a 0.6% drop in January-September.
Separately, China exported some 158 mt of steel scrap in October, down 68.6% from October 2018. Exports in January-October fell 99.2% from the same period in 2018, and came in at 2,676 mt.
Customs data indicated that steel scrap exports in September were 90.9% lower year on year and stood at 117 mt.
