SHANGHAI, Nov 22 (SMM) – Hainan will offer financial support for 5G base station construction and electricity supply in the next three years to optimise 5G rollout, according to a statement released by Hainan government on November 22.

No more than 100 million yuan per year of subsidy will be granted for 5G base stations and their supporting facilities that will be constructed and activated in 2020-2022.

The provincial government and municipal/county-level government will each pay 50% of the subsidy.

It was reported that Hainan is China’s first province with complete 5G telecoms network coverage across all cities/counties, with a total of 507 fifth-generation base stations being deployed by September.
