SHANGHAI, Nov 21 (SMM) – Daye Nonferrous Metals, one of China’s top copper producers, has started construction of a new smelter with an annualised capacity of 400,000 mt in Huangshi of Hubei province, a senior official of the company said at the Asia Copper Week conference in Shanghai on November 20. 

The plant is scheduled to commission in the first half of 2021, according to the official.

Its full operation will lift the capacity of Daye Nonferrous Metals to an annualised 1 million mt, close to that of Jiangxi Copper, another major copper producing company in China.
