SHANGHAI, Nov 21 (SMM) – The southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on November 19 issued a revised guideline for the management of taxi services, requiring all new vehicles registered for online ride-hailing services to be fully electric from December 1.
The move comes in response to domestic efforts to promote new energy vehicles and curb air pollution, with major cities rolling out action plans for the replacement of gas-powered taxis with electric cars in the next few years.
The guideline also aimed to improve safety management in the taxi industry.
