Q4 quotas so far for the import of newly-restricted high-grade copper scrap shrank sharply from that in Q3

SHANGHAI, Nov 20 (SMM) – China imported 86,600 mt of copper scrap in October, down 44.1% from September and down 53.1% from October 2018, according to SMM calculations based on the latest customs data.

Copper scrap imports in the first ten months of this year came in at 1.33 million mt, 35.43% lower than the same period a year earlier.

Customs data indicated that imports of copper scrap in September jumped 50% on the month.

Fourth-quarter quotas so far for the import of newly-restricted high-grade copper scrap shrank sharply from that in the third quarter, which may explain the decline in copper scrap imports in October.
