SHANGHAI, Nov 20 (SMM) – Primary aluminium producers in Liaocheng, Shandong province, will be allowed to set their own curbs to combat smog this winter, according to the city’s winter production control plan released on November 14.
This includes 563,600 mt/year of capacity of the aluminium giant Xinfa Group and 936,400 mt/year of Liaocheng Xinyuan Group, as they meet the A-level for standards on techniques, pollution treatment and emissions.
The Liaocheng environmental authorities will not impose winter curbs on Yanggu Xiangguang Copper and Chiping Xinyuan Carbon, either.
Xinfa’s alumina refinery, with capacity of 3 million mt/year, however, is required to cut production by 10% during November 15, 2019 to March 15, 2020, while prebaked anode producers in the region are ordered to slash capacity by 25-30%.
