SHANGHAI, Nov 20 (SMM) – Global zinc deficit narrowed to 21,400 mt in September, from a revised 27,000 mt in August, the International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) said on Tuesday November 19.

For the first nine months of 2019, the zinc deficit narrowed to 156,000 mt, compared to 272,000 mt in the same period last year.

SMM data showed that China’s production of refined zinc in January-September amounted to 4.25 million mt, up 7.08% year on year.

Data from the ILZSG also showed that global lead shortage widened to 41,000 mt in September, from 26,800 mt in the previous month.

The lead shortage widened to 83,000 mt in the January-September period, from 34,000 mt last year.

China produced 2.21 million mt of primary lead in that period, up 0.52% from a year earlier, SMM data showed.
