SHANGHAI, Nov 18 (SMM) – Production at industrial plants were restricted and operations at open pit mines were halted in Zhengzhou of China's north-central province of Henan, after the city activated an orange alert for air pollution on November 16.
Polluting enterprises in the domestic aluminium and lead processing hub are required to cut or suspend production, SMM learned.
The orange alert is the second-highest warning in China's four-tier system.
