SHANGHAI, Nov 15 (SMM) – Operating rates across lead-acid battery producers in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hebei provinces averaged 57.75% in the week ending November 15, up 1.51 percentage points from the prior week, showed an SMM survey.
With automakers in a traditional high season, producers of lead-acid batteries used to ignite automobiles saw healthy orders, and some stepped up production to prepare for the year-end holiday season, boosting the average operating rate.
Battery producers lowered their offers this week, with those for automotive batteries down by 3-5%, as distributors scaled back purchases after lead prices tumbled.
