SHANGHAI, Nov 14 (SMM) – China's battery manufacturers produced 10.83 billion lithium-ion batteries in the first nine months of the year, up 7.7% from the same period last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reported on November 13, citing data from the China Light Industry Information Centre.
The year-over-year increase accelerated from a rise of 6.5% in the first eight months of the year.
In January-September, domestic production of lead-acid batteries stood at 148.81 million kVAh, 5.2% higher from a year earlier, compared to a 4.5% rise in January-August.
Output of primary cells and batteries (excluding button cells), meanwhile, grew at a slower pace of 2.6% on the year, to 29.53 billion units in January-September.
