China may stop exempting 141 more NEVs from purchase tax

SHANGHAI, Nov 13 (SMM) – China is mulling removal of 141 models of new energy vehicles (NEVs) from the catalogue of cars exempt from vehicle purchase tax, according to a notice of seeking public opinion on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on November 11. 

Carmakers including SAIC Motor, FAW Haima Automobile, WM Motor were involved in the adjustment.

No production or exports were registered for the 141 models over the past 12 months, since the 21st edition of the list was released in November 2018.
