SHANGHAI, Nov 7 (SMM) – SMM has opened a new branch office in Foshan, Guangdong province in south China, marking a crucial step for the Shanghai-based metals information provider to tap into the key strategic region for the metals industry chain.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the establishment of the branch was held in conjunction with the South China Metals Summit 2019 in Foshan on Thursday November 7.

SMM CEO Adam Fan, Cedar Commodities President Han Gang, Guangdong Stainless Steel Materials and Products Association Executive Chairman and Secretary-General Lin Zeyu, Foshan Nanhai Aluminium Profile Industry Association Secretary-General Su Tianjie, Guangdong Weiye Aluminium Factory Group General Manager Li Weiping, Guangdong Huajin Aluminium President Huang Jianliang, Foshan Huahong Copper Pipe Sales Director Song Zhijian, Foshan Xinzhan Metal Materials Director Zhang Huaiyun, Foshan Taiyuda Group Vice President Cai Xilong, Guangdong Jinyi Alloy Products Chairman Song Shaowen, Yingde Brother Star Nonferrous Metals Recycling General Manager Du Xingbin, and Foshan Shunde District Lecong Town Kaifa Trading General Manager He Rongguang attended the ceremony.

In his opening speech, Mr Adam Fan said that Foshan is chosen as the new branch office location because of strategic reasons.“Foshan, which is famous for its processing industries, plays an important role in the metals industrial chain. And Guangdong, which is the forefront of China's reform and development, has seen many successful entrepreneurs who are dynamic and innovative."

Foshan, which is located in the Pearl River Delta, is a key node city for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area as well as a vital manufacturing hub in China, covering home appliances, machinery equipment, metal materials processing and production, ceramics and building materials, textile and garment, electronic information, food and beverage, fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals, and household products, which all require nonferrous metals.

Mr Fan cited that although SMM has been serving customers in Guangdong for long, but it is all about being in the right place at the right time. “We choose to accelerate our development plans in Guangdong, boosting the industrial chain in Foshan with our offering,” he said.

With the new Foshan office in place, SMM will also hold a seperate annual summit in south China, in addition to the ongoing annual summit in east China.
