Secondary lead smelters operating rate slumped on output restrictions

Operating rates across licensed smelters in Jiangsu, Anhui and Henan fell 10.3 percentage points on the week

SHANGHAI, Nov 1 (SMM) – Operating rates across licensed smelters of secondary lead in Jiangsu, Anhui and Henan provinces averaged 43% in the week ended November 1, down sharply by 10.3 percentage points from the previous week amid anti-smog output controls, according to SMM survey.

The operating rate in Anhui reduced 17.1 percentage points on the week to 22.9%, as local secondary lead smelters were told to shut down on October 30 after the implementation of pollution restriction alert.

Henan smelters saw their operating rates plunging 24.5 percentage points from a week ago, to 31.7%, as full suspension of battery disassembling lines at major producer Jinli offset the recovery of refining lines at Jinpeng.

SMM learned that Henan Jinli will likely to resume a battery disassembling line over the weekend.

Average operating rate in Jiangsu, however, rose 8 percentage points week on week to stand at 74.7%, lifted by ramped-up production at New Chunxing.

Tianneng Co., Ltd. (688819) Issues 2026 H1 Earnings Forecast: Revenue Up YoY While Net Profit Slumps
[Lead Market Update] In early August 2026, Tianneng Co., Ltd. released its 2026 semi-annual earnings forecast. The company expects H1 revenue of 21.878 billion - 22.771 billion yuan, up 4.59% - 8.86% YoY; net profit attributable to shareholders of 270 million - 300 million yuan, down 65.46% - 68.92% YoY; and deducted non-recurring net profit of 149 million - 165 million yuan, down 71.98% - 74.70% YoY. The company stated that high prices of upstream raw materials such as sulphuric acid, intensified downstream competition, end-use demand recovery falling short of expectations, combined with the adjustment of the VAT additional deduction policy, exerted pressure on profit margins. This forecast is based on preliminary estimates only; final financial data will be subject to the official semi-annual report. Investors are reminded to pay attention to risks.
