Mines in Guangxi's Hechi shut after roof collapse

China Tin Group produced about 15,000 mt of tin ore in 2018, with over 95% originating from Hechi

SHANGHAI, Oct 31 (SMM) – Mines in Hechi city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in southern China, have been required to suspend operations, after a roof collapse at a mine in Nandan county on Monday left two dead and nine workers still trapped.

It remains unknown when the mines will be allowed to resume operations.

The accident is expected to hit tin mine production. China Tin Group, the second-largest tin ore producer in the country, produced about 15,000 mt of tin ore in 2018, with over 95% originating from Hechi.
