Sep zinc concentrate imports in China hit highest since January

A total of 294,668 mt of seaborne zinc concentrate entered China in Sep, 32.81% higher than a year earlier

SHANGHAI, Oct 31 (SMM) – China’s imports of zinc concentrate last month rose to the highest level since January on the back of strong demand for feedstock from Chinese zinc smelters.

A total of 294,668 mt of seaborne zinc concentrate entered China in September, 32.81% higher than a year earlier, showed the latest data from China Customs.

Australia remained the top supplier, with zinc concentrate imports from the country accounting for 134,355 mt in September, up 111% on the year and 106% on the month. 

In the first eight months of the year, China imported 884,000 mt in Zn content of zinc concentrate, up from 883,000 mt in Zn content during the same period last year.
