[SMM investigation] the weekly operating rate of recycled lead refinery is 49.3%.

SMM, 18 October:

The weekly operating rate of the SMM recycled lead smelter was 49.3% in three provinces this week, up 2.8% from a month earlier, according to Shanghai Colored Network (SMM).

Among them, the operating rate of Jiangsu recycled lead licensed smelter was 58.3%, while that of Anhui recycled lead licensed smelter was 40.0%, both unchanged from last week. Henan recycled lead licensed smelter operating rate was 51.8%, up 11.1% from last week. The rising operating rate was mainly due to Henan Jinyi resuming the operation of two waste battery dismantling lines on Monday.

The strong trend of Wipanlun lead and the low social inventory of superimposed lead ingots pushed the Shanghai period lead to a high level of 17200 yuan / ton. At the same time, the purchase price of waste battery fluctuated very little, the circulation supply of reduced lead market became increasingly abundant, and the price of reduced lead was weak. Therefore, the smelting profit of the recycled refined lead smelter was rich, but the downstream storage enterprises only maintained careful mining on demand. Under the background of high profits and no optimistic expectations for the future, the refined lead refinery was in the background of high profits and no optimistic expectations for the future. Have let profit out of goods, resulting in recycled lead discount continues to expand, as of today, including tax regenerated lead mainstream transaction price to SMM1# lead average price discount 400-600RMB / ton factory.

Lead prices were in the doldrums, while secondary lead smelters maintained firm offers due to losses. The mainstream spot order ex-factory prices including tax narrowed the discount to the SMM #1 lead average price by 100 yuan/mt, shifting to a premium of 0–25 yuan/mt, with some smelters halting offers and sales.

Pre-holiday stockpiling by downstream enterprises had largely concluded, and a few had already entered the holiday period, completely suspending procurement. Next week, secondary lead smelters will enter a concentrated wave of production halts and holidays, resulting in sluggish trading activity in the spot market. Offers for spot refined lead orders were sparse, with prices moving in line with the market.

Sluggish Transactions in Domestic Secondary Crude Lead Market, Prices at 15,250-15,400 Yuan/mt
The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
