SHANGHAI, Sep 5 (SMM) – Yunnan Tin Group, China’s largest tin producer, planned to suspend its tin smelting equipment for no longer than 50 days of maintenance, starting on October 21, said the company in a statement on October 17.
The overhaul, as part of the combined cutback plan by major Chinese tin smelters in early September, is estimated to cut refined tin production at Yunnan Tin this year by 10% from its previous target.
SMM expects a shortfall of domestic refined tin supply to prop up the market if key smelters abide by the decision to slash production by a combined volume of 20,200 mt by the end of this year.
