SMM10, March 17: customs data show that China's metal silicon exports in August were 60000 tons, an increase of 9.2 percent over the previous month, and a significant decrease of 26.2 percent from the same period last year.

After the decline in domestic silicon prices stopped falling in August, foreign downstream replenishment increased, coupled with traders' judgment that prices hit bottom and concentrated delivery, two reasons led to a month-on-month rise in exports in August, but the year-on-year data maintained a decline for the 10th month in a row.

The reduction of terminal demand has led to a year-on-year decline in the foreign large-scale downstream operation rate, the original raw material inventory consumption time is prolonged, the bidding time is postponed, and the price competition is intensified.

From January to August 2019, China's cumulative export of silicon metal was 474000 tons, down 18.8 percent from the same period last year.
