Exports of silicon metal increase 9% in Aug

Social inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port expanded 2,000 mt from the previous week to 42,000 mt as of Friday July 30.

SMM data showed that China's silicon metal output stood at 189,000 mt in May, down 4.2% from the previous month.

Silicon prices rose sharply after the National Day holidays, the metallurgical grade low-grade specifications rose about 1,000 yuan in less than one month, and the metallurgical grade high-grade silicon and chemical grade silicon also increased about 400-600 yuan/mt.
