Traders restocked on expectations of lower supply in the upcoming dry season

SHANGHAI, Oct 11 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city, and Tianjin port rose a sharp 16,000 mt from September 27 and stood at 81,000 mt as of Friday October 11, showed SMM data.

The volume of cargoes flowing in and out of warehouses at Huangpu and Tianjin ports jumped from the levels before National Day holiday as traders restocked on expectations of lower supply in the upcoming dry season. Arrivals of shipment ordered pre-holiday also grew the social inventories.

Stocks in Kunming increased the most as of October 11, bolstered by cargoes transferring from silicon mills, stockpiling by traders, and greater volumes of pledged goods.
