Zinc social inventories fall 3,100 mt further on weekend

Continued pre-holiday stockpiling lowered inventories in Shanghai and Guangdong

SHANGHAI, Sep 30 (SMM) – Social inventories of refined zinc across Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong extended declines over the weekend, as they shrank by 3,100 mt from Friday September 27 and by 13,900 mt from Monday September 23, to stand at 135,900 mt on Monday September 30, showed SMM data.

Continued pre-holiday stockpiling lowered inventories in Shanghai and Guangdong, while greater arrivals offset the volume of shipments in Tianjin.

Overall domestic purchases of zinc were brisk before the week-long National Day holiday this year, SMM assessed.
