Primary aluminium inventories continue declines on pre-holiday buying

As of Sep 30, stocks across eight consumption areas in China fell 45,000 mt from Sept 26

SHANGHAI, Sep 30 (SMM) – Social inventories of primary aluminium in China extended their declines over the weekend as pre-holiday stockpiling by downstream consumers continued.

SMM data showed that stocks across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, fell 45,000 mt from Thursday September 26 to stand at 894,000 mt as of Monday September 30.

Wuxi, Jiangsu – 254,000 mt

Shanghai – 176,000 mt

Nanhai, Guangdong – 259,000 mt

Gongyi, Henan – 77,000 mt

Hangzhou, Zhejiang – 47,000 mt

Tianjin – 53,000 mt

Linyi, Shandong – 8,000 mt

Chongqing –20,000 mt

Social inventories of lead ingots across Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin expanded 13,600 mt from last Friday July 23 to 172,600 mt as of July 30. This was up 6,500 mt from Monday July 26 and registered a new high since October 2014.
