SHANGHAI, Sep 27 (SMM) – China’s exports of manganese, including unwrought manganese, scrap, powder, wrought manganese and other manganese products, rebounded in August as overseas steelmakers returned from summer break and resumed procurement.
Overall manganese exports stood at 35,811 mt in August, up 8.06% on the month, after they dipped 17.1% in July.
Refined manganese, including unwrought manganese, scrap, and powder, accounted for 33,280 mt, up 12.69% from July and 5.76% from August 2018.
Exports of wrought manganese and manganese products, however, fell 29.85% month on month and 39.19% year on year to stand at 2,531 mt last month.
South Korea remained the top export destination in August as it took 6,928 mt of refined manganese from China.
SMM learned that current enquiries for September delivery are active, but high domestic offers sideline overseas buyers.
