Heavy air pollution to shut aluminium alloy producers in Hebei till Oct 3

Heavy air pollution will hit the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and surrounding areas

SHANGHAI, Sep 24 (SMM) – Some aluminium alloy producers in Hebei province have been required to cut or suspend production from September 24 to October 3, SMM learned, in anticipation of heavy air pollution to hit the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and surrounding areas.

Most part of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the whole Henan, large part of Shandong and the northern part of Jiangsu and Anhui are expected to feel the impact.

The Henan province activated an orange smog-alert at CST 12:00 September 24, while Henan’s Jiaozuo city issued an alert of a higher, red level at CST 12:00 September 23 and plans to remove the alert at CST 24:00 October 2.

Under a smog alert, pollutant sources are ordered to scale back operations or close.
