German manufacturing PMI hit a new low of 41.4 in 2009, which has been below the line of prosperity and decline for nine months in a row.

SMM: statistics agency Markit released data show that Germany's manufacturing PMI significantly lower than market expectations, only 41.4, the lowest since 2009, and this is the German manufacturing PMI for the ninth month in a row below the rise and fall line.

Data show that Germany's Markit manufacturing PMI in September initial value of 41.4, expected 44.0, compared with the previous value of 43.5. Germany in September Markit services PMI initial value of 52.5, expected 54.3, the previous value of 54.8. Germany September Markit comprehensive PMI initial value 49.1, expected 51.5, the previous value 51.7.

PMI trend of German Manufacturing Industry

Markit economist Phil Smith said Germany's PMI data were again bleak, with the composite output index falling further into contraction at its lowest level since October 2012, with the economy likely to show no growth until the end of 2019, according to current trends; manufacturing data performed poorly. Trade frictions, uncertainty in the auto industry and Brexit are messing up the order. Manufacturing in September had its worst performance since the 2009 financial crisis.

Earlier figures showed that French manufacturing PMI data also fell short of market expectations, but remained above the boom-and-bust line.
