






SHANGHAI, Sep 23 (SMM) – China imported 100,000 mt of copper scrap in August, down 23.1% from July and 54.4% from August 2018, according to monthly report released by China’s General Administration of Customs on Monday September 23.
This brought copper scrap imports in the first eight months of 2019 to 1.08 million mt, down 31.5% from the same period a year earlier.
In August, China’s imports of aluminium scrap rose 7.4% from a year ago to 140,000 mt, while there were no imports of steel scrap.
Imports of aluminium scrap amounted to 1.13 million mt in January-August, up 3% on a year-over-year basis.
