Daimler CEO: Mercedes-Benz China Battery Factory will be put into production by the end of this year

SMM, Sept. 11: Daimler CEO said Mercedes-Benz battery plant in China will be put into production by the end of this year.

The battery factory under construction in Beijing, with a total investment of US $740 million and covering an area of 56300 square meters, will mainly supply BAIC new energy and Beijing Mercedes-Benz models, and will also produce Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles.

Its first power battery factory in Carmenz, Germany, has now begun mass production and has produced more than 200000 cells for its pure electric, plug-in hybrid and other models.

The battery PACK project at Mercedes-Benz's sub-plant in Stuttgart, Germany, has begun construction, and by the end of this year, the plant will scale up Mercedes-Benz's electric vehicles.
